Anthony Funeral Homes and Crematory was founded in 1917 by A.J. Kucko, an immigrant from Slovakia, and helping families in the greater Akron area for generations. Over the course of 100 years, we have moved and expanded our business, but we still serve our communities with the same heart and dedication that we were founded on all those years ago. Today, Anthony Funeral Homes is run by the grandson and great-grandchildren of our founder.
Funeral Celebrants
Many families come to the funeral home wanting a service, but not having anyone to help them create one. We believe every family that wants a funeral service or celebration of life should be able to have a meaningful and memorable time of tribute, and we have ways to provide just that. Our director, Katie Anthony Clapp, is a certified and experienced Funeral Celebrant. She is skilled at public speaking, arranging fine details, and truly meeting your family’s needs. She spends time getting to know each family, so the services she writes are unique and personal for each family. Katie also frequently collaborates with family members and sometimes clergy to deliver a touching tribute to their loved one. Onsite Luncheon Facility
We are proud to have been offering onsite luncheons since 1992 at our Akron Chapel. We partner with DiFeo's Catering to provide affordable and delicious meals for families and their guests. We can also facilitate luncheons at other locations for our Falls and Green Chapels.
Because we are family owned and operated, we are dedicated to our local community because this is our home too. We allow local non-profit groups to use our luncheon facility during off-hours and support other groups throughout the area by printing raffle tickets and other items.

Onsite Crematory
Cremation is a growing part of the funeral industry, and in 2015 we invested in our own onsite crematory to better serve our families. Located at our spacious Akron Chapel, once your loved one is brought into our care, we are with them through the whole process. In the last ten years, we have helped hundreds of families who have chosen cremation and are proud to have earned their trust.
Online Memorials
We can create a customized, online memorial for you to share with family and friends. The memorial includes the obituary and any photographs you wish to provide. It will serve as a place for visitors to post condolences, share memories, upload photos, and light candles in honor of your loved one.
Tribute Videos
Tribute videos have become a heartfelt addition to the services offered by funeral homes. They beautifully blend cherished photos, video clips, and meaningful music into a touching montage that honors the life and cherished memories of a loved one. We make it easy for friends and family to send flowers to your home or service to honor your loved one. We have partnered with local florists to offer the convenience of ordering directly from the obituary page of our website. You can also use this feature to select the flowers you would like at the service. This is a secure way to choose beautiful arrangements from the privacy and comfort of your home.
Sharing Service Details
We reduce the stress of contacting those who need the details of the service for your loved one. We post the dates and times of the service as part of the online memorial on our website. You can then either share the memorial on your Facebook or Twitter page or copy the details from the site into an email or text. Both options give you the peace of mind that you have provided the necessary information to those who need it.
