Obituary of Anthony Leslie

Anthony Michael Leslie, Jr.

Anthony 'Mike' Leslie, 77, passed away Saturday, October 14, 2017.

Mike was born September 12, 1940 in Canton to the late Anthony & Jeannie Leslie, and was a lifelong area resident. A member of IBEW Local 540, Mike worked for Abbott Electric for over 20 years as an electrician. He was an avid boater and fisherman, and enjoyed spending time on the Great Lakes with his family. Mike was a huge sports fan and a proud Cantonite. He never met a stranger and was generous with his time and talents. His cooking and baking were family favorites. Most of all, Mike was an amazing father, grandfather, and husband.

In addition to his parents, Mike was preceded in death by his first wife Mary Ellen; brother-in-law Earl Griffin; son Bill Griffin; siblings Constance Kuhn, John Leslie and Jim Leslie; grandson Jacob Leslie; and son-in-law Rob Dickinson. He is survived by his wife Karen; children Cathy (Bruce) Rosenthal, Patty (Sae) Choe, Mary Margaret Dickinson, Theresa (Sherif) Shamaa, Tony (Cindi) Leslie & Matthew (Renee) Leslie; daughter-in-law Sue Duemmel; brother Bob (Andi) Leslie; 22 grandchildren; brother-in-law Jim (Sandy) Griffin; sisters-in-law Margaret (Bob) Lasky and Joan Rothermel; 7 great-grandchildren; and a whole host of extended family & loved ones.

Calling hours will be Tuesday October 17 from 4-7PM at the Anthony Funeral Home of Green, 4178 Massillon Road in Green (entrance off Steese Rd). Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated at 10AM at St. Francis de Sales Catholic Church, 4019 Manchester Road in Akron. Interment of Calvary Cemetery in Massillon to follow.
