Raymond Joseph Preski, 86, passed from this world on March 30, 2018 at Akron City Hospital. He was born June 25, 1931 to Alexander & Antoinette Preski in Akron. He was baptized into the Catholic faith at St. Mary Church in Akron. He entered Lincoln Elementary School in September 1937 and graduated in June 1945. He graduated from South High School in Akron in 1949. He worked for the Akron Grocery Company from June 1948 to September 1951. He entered the US Air Force, served two years on Okinawa, and was honorably discharged September 11, 1955. In June 1958 he earned his Bachelors in Science Degree from Kent State University, majoring in physics and minoring in mathematics. He then attended the Ohio State University Graduate School, majoring in physics & astronomy. Starting in September of 1958 until 1965, Ray was employed as a physicist at Wright-Patterson Air Force Base in Dayton, OH. He continued his career at Goodyear Aerospace until 1970. In 1971, he began work for the City of Akron in the Water Pollution Control Division as a supervisor until his retirement in June, 1993. Raymond gave many talks on these two fields to students and professional groups such as the American Astronomical Society and the American Institute of Aeronautics and Astronomics, as well as various other groups. He was published in the Astronomical Journal and other Publications. His major hobby was Nuber Theory in Mathematics.
In addition to his parents, Ray was preceded in death by his sister Regina & his brother Leonard. He is survived by many cousins in this country and in Poland.
A Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated on Tuesday, 11 am, at Immaculate Heart of Mary Catholic Church, 1905 Portage Trail in Cuyahoga Falls, where the family will receive friends for one hour prior to the Mass. Burial will follow at Holy Cross Cemetery in Akron. (McGowan-Reid & Santos Chapel, FALLS)
