Stefan Bybyk, 93, passed away Monday, July 17, 2017 at Akron City Palliative Care.
Steve was born in Kozivka, West Ukraine and immigrated to the United States in 1949. From Boston, he moved to Amsterdam, NY where he worked as a short order cook and completed a correspondence course in electronics. Family made Steve aware of a job opportunity in Akron which began a 33 year career as a micro-electronics fabricator at Goodyear Aerospace. The 1956 move to Akron began his long time association with Holy Ghost Ukrainian Catholic Church, where he served on the Church Committee for 20 years. He served as Providenia Secretary for 20 years. During his Goodyear career he worked part time for Fred Marvin and Associates, which became full time after his retirement from Goodyear. Even after retiring from Fred Marvin, he worked part time until his death.
Steve is survived by his wife of 71 years, Anna; son Steven (Denise); grandchildren Lori (Russ) Barnes and Phillip Effler; great granddaughter Amily Effler; son-in-law David Effler; nieces and nephews in the Ukraine also survive him. His daughter Orysia Effler preceded him in death.
Funeral service will be held Friday July 21, 2017 at 9:30 am at the Anthony Funeral Home Kucko-Anthony-Kertesz Chapel, 1990 S. Main St., Akron followed at 10:00am by Divine Liturgy at Holy Ghost Ukrainian Catholic Church, 1866 Brown St. Akron OH 44301. Rev. Fr. Vsevolod Shevchuk officiating. Interment Holy Cross Cemetery. The family will receive friends Thursday, July 20, 2017 from 6 to 8 pm at the funeral home where a Parastas will take place at 7:30 pm. Donations may be made to Holy Ghost Church. (Anthony, AKRON)
